Small resin batch example
The Small batch example uses 80 ml of $36/L resin for four parts, 15% supports and waste, 5.5 print hours, 18 minutes of post-processing, user-entered energy and consumable costs, and a 10% failure rate. It estimates about $18.76 per batch, or $4.69 per part, before markup, tax, shipping, or platform fees.
Material Cost vs Full Resin Production Cost
Material-only cost uses slicer volume, bottle price, supports, and waste. That is useful for a quick check, but it can understate the real cost of washing, curing, support removal, inspection, cleanup, equipment wear, and failed plates.
Advanced costs stay optional so a hobby user can stop at material cost while a shop can build a fuller per-part production floor from its own records.

- Resin used by the parts plus supports, vat residue, drainage loss, and exposure tests.
- Printer runtime, machine allocation, printer electricity, and powered wash or cure time.
- Hands-on washing, support removal, curing, inspection, and cleanup labor.

Formula
Resin with waste = resin price per liter / 1000 × slicer volume × (1 + waste %). Direct batch cost adds print and wash/cure electricity, machine time, post-processing labor, cleaning consumables, wear, and PPE. Failure allowance = direct batch cost × failure rate / (100 - failure rate). Cost per part = total batch cost / parts in batch.
Limits of This Calculator
- Every rate is a manual estimate. The calculator does not fetch resin prices, utility rates, printer specifications, or equipment life data.
- The resin volume and runtime should come from your slicer or shop notes. No STL, 3MF, slicer, or model file is uploaded or analyzed.
- FEP, LCD, PPE, IPA, cleaner, filters, and other consumables vary by workflow; enter a per-batch allocation that matches your own records.
- This is a production-cost estimate, not accounting, tax, safety, or business advice.

What resin printing costs can I include?
You can include resin, supports and waste, printer and wash/cure electricity, machine time, post-processing labor, cleaning consumables, FEP or LCD wear, PPE, and a failure allowance.
How is the resin failure allowance calculated?
The calculator converts your failure rate into the expected retry cost per successful batch. A 10% failure rate adds about 11.11% of direct batch cost rather than a flat 10%.
