    Method

    What the distance means

The library converts sRGB values to Lab using the D65 white point, then compares colors with ΔE2000. A value below 1 is usually not perceptible on screen; 1–2 is barely perceptible; 2–5 becomes noticeable side by side; above 5 is clearly different. The calculation is a reproducible screen-color comparison, not a paint formula.

Not affiliated with any paint brand. On-screen colors are approximations; verify every finalist with a physical swatch.

    FAQ

    Before choosing a match

How are cross-brand paint colors compared?

Every screen color in the library is converted from sRGB to Lab with the D65 white point, then ranked with the ΔE2000 color-difference formula. The ranking compares screen approximations, not paint tint formulas.

Does a low ΔE mean the paints will look identical?

No. A low value means the two screen colors are close under one calculation. Sheen, product line, substrate, lighting, application, and physical colorants can still change the painted result.

Should I buy paint from this match alone?

Use the matches to narrow a long list, then verify the finalists with physical swatches on the intended surface. Review samples beside fixed finishes at more than one time of day.
