Codes before names
Benjamin Moore color codes come from several collections, so the letters are as important as the digits. OC identifies the Off White Collection, HC marks Historical Colors, and AF refers to Affinity, while many classic colors use number-only codes. This mixed naming system is one reason searches by name alone can be misleading. The popular range includes clean whites, muted off-whites, gentle blue-greens, historical neutrals, and saturated navy or charcoal accents. Many of these colors sit close together on a screen but separate under real light because small shifts in chroma and undertone become more obvious across a large wall. The comparison tables use one consistent D65 screen-color calculation to make the ranking reproducible. They do not reproduce Benjamin Moore tint formulas. Code-first comparison also reduces confusion between repeated collection names and retailer shorthand. Treat a low distance as a shortlist, then compare physical samples in morning, midday, and evening light beside flooring, counters, cabinets, and trim.

FAQ
Using this brand reference
How should I use the Benjamin Moore color matches?
Use the ranked screen-color results to choose a short list, then compare physical Benjamin Moore swatches on the intended surface. Lighting, sheen, product line, and substrate are not included in the calculation.
Are these official Benjamin Moore paint formulas?
No. The library stores factual color identifiers and screen-color reference values. It does not reproduce or convert proprietary tint formulas, and it is not affiliated with Benjamin Moore.
Why can a Benjamin Moore sample differ from the screen?
Displays emit light while paint reflects it. Screen calibration, room exposure, surface texture, finish, application, and surrounding materials can all shift the appearance of a physical sample.
