Reading the palette
PPG architectural colors normally use the PPG prefix followed by a family number and a final shade position, as in PPG1001-1. Colors sharing the middle family number often form a light-to-dark run, which makes the code useful when looking for a controlled step rather than an unrelated alternative. The popular palette moves from commercial whites and pale neutrals through greiges, blues, greens, and deep accents such as Black Magic or Night Watch. For this library, RGB and LRV values are taken from the human-facing PPG color pages listed in the official sitemap, and hexadecimal values are calculated directly from those RGB channels. The matching engine compares those screen values with the other four palettes on the same D65 basis. A close result is not a tint-formula conversion and does not predict sheen or substrate behavior. Use the ranked matches as sample candidates, then verify them with physical swatches and the exact product line intended for the room.
