Reading the palette
Valspar codes vary by collection and retail line, with familiar formats such as 4005-1B alongside newer V-series identifiers. Recording the full code prevents a gray, white, or blue with a common name from being confused with a similarly named color elsewhere. The online palette spans practical Lowe's neutrals, crisp whites, near-black accents, and a much wider field of saturated colors. Its popular group contains several closely spaced cool grays, making numeric comparison useful when a visual scan of small chips is not enough. Every screen value here goes through the same sRGB-to-Lab conversion, then gets ranked against the other brands by ΔE2000. That produces a consistent comparison, but it cannot account for gloss, paint chemistry, coverage, texture, or the lighting in a particular room. Use the result to choose a manageable set of samples, label each sample with its complete code, and review it on the intended wall before buying project quantities.
